Q + A

Don't see your question answered below?

You can contact us (Stephen and Julia) directly anytime before the wedding and we'll try to help in any way we can.

Where will the wedding and reception take place?

Both wedding and reception festivities will take place at the Flynn Pavilion on Detroit's beautiful Belle Isle State Park.

What is the address to the Flynn Pavilion?

While the Flynn Pavilion does not have an official address, you can search "Belle Isle Flynn Pavilion" and find it in google maps or any other maps app and it will take you where you need to be. We will also have signs out the day of the event that will point you in the right direction once you enter the island via the bridge.

Belle Isle is a State Park, do I need a Recreation Passport?

Yes. All visitors to Detroit's Belle Isle are required to adhere to the State of Michigan Recreation Passport Policy. State Recreation passports are needed on all vehicles to enter the park. The passport is $14.00 annually for Michigan Registered Vehicles and $11.00 daily. Non-Michigan vehicles are $40.00 annually and $11.00 daily. Commercial vehicles are $21.00 daily. If not purchased through the Secretary of State, Recreation Passports may be obtained at the booth upon entering the park. Please visit www.michigan.gov/recreationpassport for more details.

I already have a recreation passport, do I need another?

No, if you already have a State of Michigan Recreational Passport, you may enter the island and bypass any lines for purchasing one.

Should I arrive early if I need to get a recreation passport?

If you have to obtain a daily recreation passport the day of the event, we suggest arriving a little early as there can be a line at their booths for purchasing one.

What is the parking situation?

There is a free parking lot right outside of the Flynn Pavilion.

If I want to book a hotel, where should I stay?

The closest, cleanest hotels to the island are going to be found in Downtown Detroit. Staying downtown can be pricey so here are some other options. If you're coming in by plane, we suggest looking at hotels near the airport. You could look at hotel listings just across the Canadian border in Windsor. Airbnb's around the city are an option if you want to split a house with other family members. Don't want to stay in the city? There are plenty of hotels in Royal Oak, MI - a suburb just north of Detroit city limits.

Is there a gift registry?

The best gift is having you celebrate with us, but if you'd like to contribute to our Happily Ever After fund, it would help us start our next adventure in life with love, laughter, and a little extra support. Thank you for being a part of our story! You can bring a card to the event or utilize our digital cash fund on the registry page here on the site.

What is the timeline for the day?

We are currently working on our timeline and will send out information regarding a timeline as soon as possible.

What should I wear?

For our afternoon spring wedding, we kindly ask that you avoid wearing jeans or t-shirts. Think semi-formal or cocktail attire. Have fun dressing up for the occasion. For those curious about wedding colors, our floral arrangements will feature shades of fuchsia, yellows, greens, and oranges. We can't wait to celebrate this long-awaited day with you. here's a link to the Pinterest folder showing the wedding colors and vibe. https://pin.it/6ZtsbTs4i

I have more questions, who should I contact?

Leading up to the wedding feel free to reach out to Julia and Stephen. Just know the day of will be kind of hectic, so try not to reach out with anything that's not an emergency that day. There will be a messaging system that will contact all attendees with any need-to-know updates as we get closer to our special day. Thanks!
